I am so bad that I got banned from Google

Yes, I have been required to enter the funky letters in the box before.  But, today, for the first time, I was locked out of Google altogether!  Yes, it appeared to the Google gods thought that whatever I was doing was just too pretty to be a human.  Therefore, it must be automated.  F-in google.

What Joe the Plumber can teach you about marketing

Whether you think it is corny or not, Joe the Plumber can offer you some great lessons about marketing:

  1. Put yourself in the right place to get known.  What did Joe do?  He went to talk with Obama weeks before the election.  He didn’t tell it to the guy at the gas station.  He put himself in a place to get his message out there.
  2. Have a good elevator pitch.  Joe was able to put his “agenda” in a couple of sentences.  It was not a complex message that he was presenting.  He did an effective job of capturing it in a short conversation.
  3. Appeal to the “average Joe”.  Joe’s was not a difficult concept to absorb.  It was simple.  His concerns appeal to the average person.
  4. Turn your message into a story.  Whether you think this whole thing is ridiculous or not, Joe took his “message” and put it in the form of a good story.  Sound advice for a marketer.

How to find and delete old files

I ran across this great tool for locating files for deletion on  your hard drive.  We have all been in that situation where you need to delete something.  You can’t even defragment anymore because you don’t have 15% free!  Here’s the key…

http://windirstat.info/

What’s cool about this site is that it gives you a nice picture that SHOWS you how big the files are… so you can get a visual on what needs to be deleted.  AWESOME!  I highly recommend.  And, it is free.

Yahoo Directory Phone Number and E-mail Contact Information

In case you have ever tried to call Yahoo, as you know, it is a HUGE pain in the ass.  First of all, you cannot find a number.  And, when you do, you are on hold forever.

So, for those of you who actually need to call Yahoo about a directory listing, you are out of luck if you need to speak to someone - because, (shocker) they don’t speak to customers.  Perhaps, that explains Yahoo’s tremendous success in recent years (or lack thereof).  But, here is a good phone number for Yahoo merchant solutions:

1-866-800-8092, option 4

If you need an e-mail address to e-mail about your Yahoo directory submission, it is:

bizex-admin@yahoo-inc.com

Bet you never would have guessed at that one, huh?
